Jason wants to make some improvements to his garden he plans to build a rectangular patio $2.7m$ by $3m$. Jason wants to put fencing around the edge of the patio. He will leave a gap at $1$ metre on one side to get onto the patio.

Supposing that the patio is a rectangle and doesn't share any sides with another fence or wall:

You just need to calculate the perimeter : $perimeter=2.7*2+3*2 = 11.4$m

Then take away $1$m for the entrance.

Fence length $=perimeter-1=10.4$m



Joson will need 10.4m to build his fence
