How to verify key change claims on project websites?

0

The top of Wine's download web page has the following warning:

The WineHQ repository key was changed on 2018-12-19. If you downloaded
and added the key before that time, you will need to download and add
the new key and run sudo apt update to accept the repository changes.

On the news section of the website there's no such mention of a key change. How do I verify the site hasn't been compromised? Would I have to find it through some news outlet? It doesn't appear there's other official Wine sources of information.

Luckily WineHQ lets you access the Recent Changes to their site. If you visit wiki.winehq.org/… you can see all the changes that they have done and who performed the changes. Also, news of a change to something like this would be at the discretion of the company performing it.
