Trying to migrate Mysql to Mysqli for php7 compatibility and having an issue with GetSQLValueString

    $page = "-1";
if (isset($_GET['ID'])) {
$page = $_GET['ID'];
echo $page;
} else {
header('Location:http://www.???.co.uk');
exit();
}
$connect = mysqli_connect($servername, $username, $password, $dbname);
$query_pages = sprintf("SELECT * FROM Pages WHERE PageID = %s",
GetSQLValueString($page, "text"));
$pages = mysqli_query($connect, $query_pages) or die(mysqli_error());
$row_pages = mysqli_fetch_assoc($pages);
$totalRows_pages = mysqli_num_rows($pages);

The GetSQLValueString command should be taking a string to place inside the SQL call but fails

Any ideas why?
