After upgrade ubuntu 18.04 changed from GUI to Terminal

After upgrading from Ubuntu 17.10 to 18.04 I am not able to login to the desktop environment. This screen shows after restarting:
login gui 18.04 tty

I can only suggest you to backup your data from LiveCD or another Linux installation and to do a clean reinstall. I had the exact same issue and nothing but clean installation solved it.

I had the same problem, and I think that doing asudo mv /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.bakfixed the thing (I also didsudo apt purge nvidia-*and then installed it again, but I don't really know if it changed anything)

I can only suggest you to backup your data from LiveCD or another Linux installation and to do a clean reinstall. I had the exact same issue and nothing but clean installation solved it.
