Ubuntu installation type only shows usb
when reaching the "installation type" window on my Dell Inspiron 7472, when installing ubuntu 18.0.4.1, rather than showing any options it simply shows a partitioning screen with what appears to be my usb device. Any help would be appreciated

Your disks are probably set to RAID in your BIOS, and need to be set to AHCI, and Ubuntu Desktop won't see your disks. Search here for "RAID" or "Dell RAID" and you'll find your answer.
