Ubuntu 18.04 - corrupted network settings after forced shutdown?

Issue: whenever I boot into my Ubuntu machine (normal desktop boot), my Ethernet adapter is disabled. The cable, routers and all intermediate hardware stops are working correctly.
To access the Internet via RJ45 cable, I am forced to execute the following command:
sudo dhclient -v enp109s0
After this command, ifconfig
prints the adapter. But if I run ifconfig
before this command, then the adapter does not appear.
I believe this started happening after I tried to run a game under PlayOnLinux and the whole screen turned black. I simply couldn't access the terminal or get visible screen using keyboard shortcuts so I was forced to hold the shutdown button until it powered off, and then booted again.
Here are some of my machine details:
Ubuntu x64 18.04.
Not using Wayland.
No integrated graphics in the processor.
I don't feel like reinstalling Ubuntu, so I was wondering if someone might know the appropriate configuration in Ubuntu that is missing or got damaged?
networking shutdown playonlinux
