RUNNING VMWARE 15.0.2 ON UBUNTU 18.04 (KERNEL 4.15.0)

Been trying to setup VMWARE 15 on UBUNTU 18.04. After installing and starting the application, it gets stuck at the "Updating Kernel Modules.." step. I have looked up several solutions and even tried patching VMWARE with mkubecek (https://github.com/mkubecek/vmware-host-modules/tree/w15.0.2-k4.15) host modules without success. Please see the partial error below and advice
