Install appropriate client for mysql-server 8.0

A Windows machine has localhost mysql 8.0.13 server.
I have installed the ubuntu package for windows.
In ubuntu mysql-client and mysql-client-core are version 5.7 they are not fully compatible and throw errors.
On the other hand I can not install mysql 8.0.13 because it will override the windows localhost mysql server for the ubuntu environment.
Any ideas?
