How to restore from another account's backup? (deja-dup won't recognize backup)

So, to clarify the question, I had a backup on another Ubuntu account, but I had to reinstall Ubuntu over it, but still have said backup on my external hard drive. I went into deja-dup and attempted to specify the folder where the backup was located but it repeatedly says "no backup to restore in this location". So I guess it's a two pronged question. Is there some flag in duplicity that I could somehow trigger to get it to recognize a different backup or something? If not am I just sol?

  • What format are these backup files - Your ubuntu account shouldn't have anything to do with these archives or do you mean your user account on your Ubuntu Desktop is different for the backups?
