Why won't Ubuntu give me the passphrase?

0

So I typed the command:
ecryptfs-unwrap-passphrase [chamberofthesun]
in order to find the passphrase of the file names chamberofthesun, and it asks for the passphrase. But I do not know it, ergo I put in that command in there to find it.
What am I supposed to do? I do not remember being given a passphrase whatsoever.

Help.

You encrypted a file and want to remove the passphrase? If so I don't think that will be possible that why passphrases are used to make it difficult or impossible to have unauthorized access!

  • No, I am trying to find the passphrase of that file

  • You can't that's the whole point of it being encrypted!
